Ballesteros shows signs of improvement Seve Ballesteros has shown a marked improvement in his health after undergoing brain surgery for the third time.
Hospital officials have revealed that the Spaniard is now able to take part in conversation with family members.
"Ballesteros continues to evolve favorably," a statement from La Paz hospital in Madrid said.
"He is conscious, is breathing spontaneously and can talk with his family.
"He has begun to receive rehabilitation treatment in the intensive care unit. "His family would like to express its thanks for all the messages of support which it has received."
The Spaniard was first admitted to hospital after losing consciousness at Madrid Airport on October 6th. He was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumour and after two operations his prognosis wasn't positive.
A third operation to remove a tumour and reduce brain swelling seems to have been more successful. The 51-year-old won 87 titles during his career, including the Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988 and the Masters in 1980 and 1983 before retiring from golf last year.
